Saturday Club Activities at Macaldeniya is one amongst other CSR activities in which the company participates. The program has been in existence since 2008.
Mothers, young women and children under the age of 16, living within the community are encouraged to participate in recreational activity with a view to giving them a perspective beyond only academic study and/or working. Some of the children who have outgrown the Club, now assist as teachers on a Saturday. This gives them the capacity to develop leadership roles.
The program is designed and executed under the supervision of Mr Rajah Siddambaram the joint- venture partner of NIDRO for the past 18 years. The Saturday club encourages the participants to read, write and speak English through the medium of games, art and music activities which they thoroughly enjoy.
